Union Lodge No. 5 treats community to Pancake Breakfast and First Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 3 saw the Brothers of Union Lodge No. 5 begin what is hoped to be a new annual tradition: a Pancake Breakfast “par excellence”, along with an Easter Egg Hunt for kids of all ages to enjoy. Worshipful Brother Domenic Corbo planned and arranged the entire event, and was assisted by several brothers. Preparations began on the previous Wednesday night, when brothers attending Fellowship Night assisted Worshipful Brother Corbo by filling eggs of all colors and sizes with candy and small toys. Worshipful Brother Corbo also planned several Easter-themed craft-making sessions for the kids. The day’s menu included gourmet pancakes made to order with a choice of blueberries, bananas, or chocolate chips, delicious bacon, whipped cream, pure maple syrup, and real butter. Beautiful yogurt parfaits made with fresh fruit and crunchy granola accompanied the meal, along with assorted juices, coffee and tea. Turnout was heavy and steady throughout the entire morning, helped along by some of the most beautiful weather to grace Stamford yet this year. Kitchen duties were performed by several additional brothers including Worshipful Master Stephen Petri (who makes some of the best pancakes this side of IHOP!), Worshipful Brother Ken Robertson, Senior Warden Jon Ringel, Junior Warden Tom Burke, Steward Christian Mele, and Brother Paul Scicchitano. Junior Deacon Felix Lugo was placed in charge of the Easter Egg Hunt, which was a huge success as evidenced by having virtually all eggs collected. Kids that found special “Golden Eggs” were eligible for a special prize of chocolate bunnies donated by Brother Scicchitano. If an event can be judged by the amount of smiles it brings to kid’s faces, then this one was definitely a winner!
