With the sun shining and brothers smiling, Saturday April 9 saw Union Lodge No. 5’s Pancake Breakfast hosting several brothers, friends and family members for an enjoyable morning feast.  A full menu of gourmet made-to-order pancakes (buttermilk, blueberry, or strawberry), fruit/granola/yogurt parfaits, “Eggs a la Past Master Digger Odell”, crispy bacon, croissant rolls, orange juice and coffee delighted the guests.  Worshipful Master Jon Ringel’s wife Nelly personally made the parfaits with the assistance of daughter Elisa, 2.

Not one to let his lack of experience in the kitchen prevent him from contributing in his own very special way, WM Ringel made a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a few missing supplies.  Upon his return to the kitchen, he set up the supplies for Nelly and Elisa to put together the parfaits.  Brothers couldn’t help but notice that WM Ringel had taken out a hammer and was pounding on packages of Nature Valley Granola Bars in order to crush them for the parfaits.  “We usually buy granola that’s already crushed” was the near unanimous refrain.  WM Ringel noted there was none in the store.  What about the cereal aisle?  “Oh, I didn’t check there…”  Needless to say, our laughs about his predicament brought us all closer together as he finished his chore of hammering the granola bars!
