Brother Felix Lugo, Senior Deacon of Union Lodge No. 5, had one of his art pieces chosen for exhibition at the 31st Annual Faber Birren National Color Award Show held at the Stamford Art Association, 39 Franklin Street, Stamford. The Opening Reception was held on Sunday, October 2, and the exhibition runs through November 3. Brother Lugo’s piece, NY Guard on Saint Patrick Parade, is Mixed Media and was chosen for exhibition at this juried competition by Elizabeth Sterling, VP/Specialist, American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, Christie’s, New York. Faber Birren was a Stamford resident for fifty years, and spent his professional career focused on the artistic impact of color and the human response to it. In 1980 he endowed an award for original and creative expression with color. This competition is the only artistic event in the nation devoted exclusively to the use of color. In addition to exhibiting his own art, Brother Lugo donated an original COPE2 (Fernando Carlo, Jr.) Limited Artist Proof valued at $1,000 for auction during the exhibition in order to raise funds for the Stamford Art Association. Brother Lugo's art and additional exhibition information can be found at his website, www.Feloart.com.
